Jealousy in Villains of Different Works - 1828 Words
Jealousy, it is what gets the best and, of course, the worst of people. Iago in Shakespeares play Othello is one of the worst villains out there. Other villains, such as Scar in Disneys The Lion King, Jafar in Disneys Aladdin, and Mother Gothel from Disneys Tangled have closely related motives and jealous personalities. All four betray and kill for reasons they believe are going to further the lives they intend to lead after their master plans. The stem of the jealousy roots from never having enough power and feeling inferior. Iago s jealousy rises mainly from a his boss, Othello, picking Cassio to be his right hand man. Its all about the honor and loyalty the believe they have. Iagos betrayal happens to a couple different people, just like Jafar betrays a couple of people. On the other hand, Scar and Mother Gothel really only betray one other person. Scar betrays his nephew, Simba, by brain washing him to run away from his land/home. Meanwhile some of Scars henchmen cause a stampede that is intended to kill Simba and his father Mufasa. Although Simba survives the stampede, his uncle Scar still tried to kill him. Mother Gothel goes back on her word because she steals a child from a kingdom and makes it her own to gain her youth from Rapunzels hair. Gothel never tells Rapunzel about her life back in town as the daughter of the king and queen. She feeds Rapunzel lies to get her to live with her. She does not want Rapunzel to live out her dreams and leave her because without Rapunzels magic hair she has no way of turning young again. In Aladdin, Jafar is trying to retrieve a magic lamp so, he seeks help from a young boy. The young boy named Aladdin and, he has to venture down into The Cave of Wonders. Jafar tells Aladdin that if he find the magic lamp and brings it back to Jafar th at he can have the rest of the gold and treasures in the cave.
